When I'm trying to uninstall "tangible modeling tools with T4 Editor for VS2008", I'm getting error 1001: An exception occured while uninstalling. THis exception will be ignored (...) --> The system cannot find the file specified.

Unfortunatelly it reverts installation and tries to open IE as administrator.

Please advice how this tool can be completly removed from my system.

The issue does not seem to repro here, when uninstalling via Control Panel ->Software->uninstall / or on Vista.

So what could it be?

- We have seen such behaviour if you try to uninstall by running the install program from a protected location
such as C:\ - please use the Control Panel instead.

- Installhelper.dll might not work on your system correctly.
Please find attached the lastest installhelper.dll here. If you replace it an uninstall it might help.

How to manually uninstall for a last resort

However for anyone being able to troubleshoot uninstall issues better, here are the details what happens
during uninstall begining with V1.2 - so you can follow the steps manually

1) It shows a dialog that return a license to the license server if you bought the pro edition

2) It deletes any Item template files we did install. They are located now a path like this one:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\tangible T4 Editor
Note, formally they were copied into many directories below ..ItemTemplates\CSharp | Web etc.

3) It deletes many files of the installation except the custom action InstallHelper.dll and the registry keys.

4) It runs "devenv.com /setup" - which is located typically at
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\"
This will remove all setting of the tool from visual studio.

(If setup crashes here all you would need to do is kill the process and get an uninstall tool so that it is not any longer shown as installed)

5) It deletes the custom installhelper.dll

Otherwise you need to follow the above steps. To finally remove the tool from the Windows Installer Summary
you would need to get a free uninstaller tool like: http://absolute-uninstaller.softonic.de/.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. As the issue didn't repro on any of your test machines nor with our beta testers.
There is nothing more we can do. If you want to follow up on the issue please mail us - info @ tangible . de.

For tangible modelling tools 1.0 -1.2 users here is also the clean-up script for item templates in that version.
