I think things have changed in VS2010 and possibly SPI.
When I Reset the Exp Hive, I get a copy of all my extensions into

When I start the EXP version, all my extensions are are disabled, but that the Enabe and Uninstall button available.

Your T4 Editor extension is installed via an MSI and both buttons are disabled.

Following your advice as posted on your blog now does not work - your extension is already present, but disabled.

Any suggestions as to how to enable?

Hello John,

so the issue is that the extensions are not enabled in Exp Hive. We have found that VS2010 and VS2010 SP1 SDK seem to be different in terms of where the addins get copied for the Exp Instance.
We recommend doing the following to ensure it is working:

Run "Reset the Experimental Instance" program found in windows start menu -> Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SDK -> Tools folder. This copies the addins to the right folder. (Note this folder changes per machine).

Now you should have the assemblies in a path like:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0Exp\Extensions\Extensions\tangible\t4 editor\1.0

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0Exp\Extensions\Extensions-10.0\tangible\t4 editor\1.0

Then please adjust the registry keys

to the respective path on your machine.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and trying to resolve the issue in a future build.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for a quick reply on a Sunday.

"EnabledExtensions" was the clue I needed, as I didn't know what I was looking for when searching the Registry.

I've managed to get it enabled now, but for some reason the path strings are being held under your user account and not mine!! And the Extensions-10.0 is missing.

After the reset, the utility CreateExpInstance is creating the 10.0Exp\Entensions\Extensions-10.0 directories, but the Registry entries don't have the Extensions-10 folder in the path, and your name is the User.

Reset gives:
C:\Users\Tim Fischer\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0Exp\Extensions\tangible\T4 Editor\1.0\

I've edited mine to:
C:\Users\jradley\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0Exp\Extensions\Extensions-10.0\tangible\t4 editor\1.0\

Looks like I'll have to do this every time I Reset!
